Dorothy O'Neal

Dorothy Allene Hester O'Neal, daughter of the late James T Hester, Sr and Eunice Allene Turner (Battle) Hester, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 17, 2025.
She was a mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and passed from this life on March 17, 2025, at the age of 97. She was known for her sense of humor and generosity and lovingly known as "Dot" to friends and family. She was preceded in death by a son Mark Yarn, sisters Virginia Hortman and Juanita McKinney, brothers James Hester, Jr and LeGrand Hester. Surviving children include daughters Connie Olsen (Roger) and Laura Longhurst (Alan) as well as a son Roger Yarn (Juanita). She is survived by a sister, Diane Hester McCallum, 16 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to give special thanks to Dot's niece, Renee Carroll, who gave loving care to Dot for a number of years.
In remembrance, a visitation will take place on Friday, March 21, 2025, 12:30pm to 1:30pm at FairHaven Funeral Home, 4989 Mount Pleasant Church Road. The family invites friends to join them for a graveside service at 2:00 pm at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens; 7070 Houston Road, Macon, Georgia, where Dot will be laid to rest.
In lieu of flowers, the family graciously asks that friends are to consider a donation to Affinis Hospice, 300 W Clinton St, Suite 1, Gray, Georgia, 31032.
