Dorothy Margarett McCain, 99, passed away peacefully in her home, July 11, 2024. Funeral services to honor her memory will be private.
Mrs. Dorothy was born on October 1, 1924, to the late Mr. Ira Lee Collins and Mrs. Pearl Lillian Meadows. She was an incredibly strong women who was always tending her garden or building projects to improve her home; even recently she started building a back porch. She gained her strength cutting wood as a child and that had a lasting effect. When she wasn't building, she could be found playing parcheesi with Jerry, Lexi, and family or spending time with her children ending her conversations with Marilyn with her signature "see you later alligator" expecting Marilyn's response "after a while crocodile".
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dorothy is predeceased by her loving husband of 81 years, William Dixon McCain, daughters; Martha Hardin and Barbara Gravely.
Left to cherish her memory are her son; Shawn McCain, daughters; Brenda (Lynn) Reynolds, Gloria Jean McCain, Marilyn Howard, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
