Reverend Greg Harrison, Reverend Dr. David Carter, and her nephew, Reverend Dr. John Brown will officiate. Immediately following the service, Doris will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will have a time of visitation to greet friends Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at FairHaven Funeral Home, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Doris was born on December 23, 1941, to the late Harold and Juanita Hunt. It was in her early 20s that she met the love of her life, Jim "Nathan" Harden, who later became her husband of over 54 years. Doris was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church for over 40 years. She retired from Bluebird as a Payroll Clerk after 20 years of faithful service. Doris was active with the Byron Lions Club, and was a member of the Byron Bunch Square dancers. Doris was the Handy "woman" of the family and even had her own tool box, which she would hide from her husband. She wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty, whether mowing grass, fixing a fence, or working in the garden. Her beloved dog Dodger never left her side. Doris was by far her happiest when she was spending time with her family, especially spoiling her grandchildren and her great nephew. Although she lived in Georgia for over 40 years, Doris never lost her true West Virginia roots.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Doctors and Nurses and Peach County Hospital and the Medical Center Navicent Health for their love and care.
The family will graciously accept flowers or donations may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, or a charity of the donor's choice.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brother; Charles Hunt.
Left to carry on her memory is her adoring husband; Jim "Nathan" Harden. Her two precious daughters: Derita Puckett (Ben) and Kristi Hightower (Sam). Four grandchildren: Reed Puckett, Nathan Puckett, Jarrett Johnson, and Emily Bowden. Siblings: Arlen Hunt (Joan), Carl Hunt, and Patty Hubbard (Ray).Sister in law: Sandra Hunt. Nieces: Carolyn Liebau (Larry), and Heather Hunt. Nephew: Reverend Dr. John Brown (Toni) and one great nephew; Kaden Hunt.
Her sweet smile and gentle spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
