Donald Brice Waddell, Sr., 84, of Macon, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024. Funeral services to honor his life will be held on Wednesday, October 30, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of FairHaven Funeral Home with Dr. Brad Marchman officiating. Immediately following, Mr. Waddell will be laid to rest at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
Mr. Waddell was born on February 24, 1940, in Rochelle, Georgia, to the late Mr. Benjamin Waddell and Mrs. Thelma Reynolds Waddell. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he retired as Chief Warrant Officer, after several tours in the Vietnam war and after 26 years of service. While in the Army, Mr. Waddell received 104 weeks of training education at Baylor University to become a Physician's Assistant (PA). He would go on to use that education to start his civilian career, where he served as a PA at Warm Springs Rehabilitation Center, now known as the Roosevelt Rehabilitation & Specialty Hospitals. In his free time, Mr. Waddell loved traveling and sailing on his sailboat. He was also an avid fan of the Atlanta Falcons and NASCAR Driver, Richard Petty.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Waddell was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Winnie Hudson Waddell; grandson, Michael Todd Dobbins, Jr.; sister, Joy Waddell Kearns; and brother, Dickie Waddell.
Mr. Waddell is survived by sons, Donald B. Waddell, Jr. (Courtney) and George Brian Waddell (Kara); daughter, Betty Jane Waddell; granddaughter, Kayla Dobbins; sister, Mary Fowler; brothers, John Waddell and Robert Waddell (Myrna); and many nieces and nephews.
