Donald T. Bittner "Butch", 62, of Lizella passed away suddenly at his home, August 5, 2016. Funeral Services to honor his life will be held Thursday, August 11 at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Burial will be immediately following with military honors. The family will greet friends Wednesday night at FairHaven Funeral Home, 4989 Mount Pleasant Church Rd, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Born to the late Donald Bruce and Joanne Elaine Bittner, Butch was raised in Connellsville, Pennsylvania. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force where he worked in Air Frame Repair. After his time in the service Butch moved to Georgia in 1980 where he worked was a carpenter by trade. He worked for several employers including Macon Iron Works and Central Carpet. Like any good Pennsylvania native, Butch was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers Fan, he loved good home country cooking. But he was his happiest when he was spending time with his family, especially when he was caring for his grandkids.
Butch was preceded in death by his father and mother.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 27 years, Sarah Long Bittner, his daughters, whom he adored; Tiffany Bittner (Ken),Melody Bittner Smith (Tony) and Hannah Bittner (Tay).Sisters; Vanessa Bittner, Linda (Mike) Bittner, and Peggy Farris (Don). Brothers; Tommy Bittner (Toni) and Jeff Bittner (Michelle). As well as his 6 precious grandchildren; Alexis Smith, Dakota Minshew, Ethan Morales, Gavin Bonamo, Chloe Bittner-Rumph, Kynleigh Rumph and one more on the way.
