David Williams

July 2, 1954 — April 22, 2015

David Michael "Mike" Williams, Sr., 60, peacefully left this life April 22, 2015 after a battle with liver
cancer. On Sunday, April 26, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. there will be a visitation in the recreation hall of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with burial to follow at 3:00 p.m. accompanied by graveside services in the church cemetery where he will be placed near his Daddy. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Aric Jackson, Rich Kipp, Robbie Swearingane, Chase Williams, Jared Schofill, Brian Scarbrough, and Matthew and Johnny Williams.

He was born in Augusta, Georgia on July 2, 1954, the third child of Mary Frances McGreggor and her first husband, Daniel Earl Williams, Sr. He was predeceased by his father, Dan, and his Daddy, Johnny Smart.

Mike's family moved to Lizella in 1961. He attended W. B Redding grammar school and was a 1974 graduate of Southwest High School. He attended and played softball for Southside Methodist Church. A curious and avid reader, he was always eager to try a new activities and engage in deep discussions on any topic. Deeply interested in spiritual matters, he investigated its many different aspects. He was a smart and talented Jack-of-All-Trades who worked in many branches of the construction industry. In recent years, he became a commercial truck driver. To his grandchildren he was a teller of tall tales, a giver of pony back rides and a wrestling partner.

He is survived by his mother, his son, David (Latonya) Williams, Jr and daughters, Dana (Kevin)
Nunnemaker and Dedra (Carl) Gregory, ;nine grandchildren: Sanae, Solomon and Nathan Williams, T. J. Harper, Kyle and Jude Nunnemaker, and Jessica , Daniel and Austin Gregory; sisters: Sally W. Jackson

and Karen (Randy) Schofill; brothers: Danny (Natasha) Williams, Matt (Patricia) Williams and Dick
(Wanda) Williams and nieces, nephews , aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
