Constance "Connie" Jane Bales Galeazzo, 79, of Perry, Georgia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, August 22, at 11:00 AM at Houston Lake Presbyterian Church.
Connie was born on December 3, 1946, in Daytona Beach, Florida, to the late Oda Dason Bales, Jr. and Ruth Centers Bales. She lived a life defined by compassion, creativity, faith, and an unwavering love for her family.
A lifelong learner with many talents, Connie first earned bachelor's degrees in Art and Psychology from Wesleyan College. She later followed her calling into healthcare by earning her nursing degree from Georgia College & State University before continuing her education with a master's degree in Neonatology from the University of South Alabama.
For decades, Connie dedicated her professional life to caring for the smallest and most vulnerable patients as a neonatal nurse. She considered nursing more than a career—it was her calling. She comforted anxious parents, celebrated tiny miracles, and lovingly cared for countless premature and critically ill infants. Those who knew her understood that her steady hands, and compassionate heart made a lasting difference in the lives of thousands of families. It brings comfort to imagine that she is now in Heaven, gently rocking precious babies in the loving arms of God.
Outside of her profession, Connie was an accomplished and award-winning quilter whose artistry reflected the same precision, and love that she poured into every aspect of her life. Through her beautiful quilts, she created lasting treasures that will continue to warm the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Above all else, Connie was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose wisdom, strength, and generous spirit touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her Christian faith guided every season of her life and gave her peace until the very end.
The Galeazzo family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many people who surrounded Connie with love, compassion, and friendship during her final journey. A special thank you to the owners and employees of Bird House Quilts, whose friendship and support meant so much to her; the caring staffs of Pine Pointe Hospice, Antebellum Grove Senior Living, and Enhabit Hospice for their exceptional care and kindness; and the pastor and members of Houston Lake Presbyterian Church for their faithful prayers, encouragement, and unwavering support. Your love carried Connie and her family through an incredibly difficult time, and they will be forever grateful.
In addition to her parents, Connie was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Bailey Galeazzo, and her sister, Carolyn Lample.
Left to cherish Connie's memory are her beloved husband of 59 years, James Guy Galeazzo; her children, Bryan Galeazzo (Penni), Amy Galeazzo Tarpley, and Beckie Galeazzo (Toby); her grandchildren, Cason Galeazzo, Peter Galeazzo (Audrie), Brylie Galeazzo, Brenna Tarpley, and Jennings Tarpley; brother, John Bales (Jennifer); her best friend, Sue Christopher; and her dear friend, C.J. Heath, along with many extended family members, former colleagues, quilting friends, and countless others whose lives were blessed by knowing her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Connie's honor to a charity supporting neonatal care, hospice care, or to Houston Lake Presbyterian Church in Warner Robins, GA.
