Clyde McCarty Mitchell, 89, of Macon, Georgia passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023. The family will have a funeral service to honor her life on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home. The family will welcome friends 30 minutes prior to the service for a time of visitation. Immediately following, Ms. Mitchell will be laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery. Pastor Len Woodard will officiate the services.
Ms. Mitchell was born on October 23, 1934, in Helena, Telfair County to the late Mr. James Freeman McCarty and Mrs. Mildred Brown McCarty. She was a homemaker, seamstress, and an avid bible reader. Ms. Clyde was a devoted faithful member of Gilead Baptist Church. Above all, spending time with her family was her most treasured trait. She was precious to her family and will be missed dearly.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Mitchell is preceded in death by her late husband, James D. Mitchell, Sr.; son, James D. Mitchell, Jr; and her siblings, Blanche Morgan, Florence Fountain, Frances Collins, Alice Peacock, James D. McCarty, and Ralph A. McCarty.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving daughters, Felicia Schofill and Marcelle Woodard; grandchildren, Brandy (Eric) Schofill, Danny (Brittney) Schofill, Cindy (Eric) Stewart, and Lori (Daniel) Owens; 7 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and a host of numerous nieces and nephews.
