Chessie Boney Carpenter, 86, of Macon, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 25, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of FairHaven Funeral Home with the Reverend Billy Flowers officiating. Immediately following, Ms. Carpenter will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time. The family requests casual attire.
Ms. Carpenter was born on July 17, 1935, in Telfair County, Georgia, to the late Miles Boney and Mary Joe Cravey Boney. She retired from the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services, where she worked as a data entry operator. In her younger years, Ms. Carpenter spent much of her free time fishing, sewing, and crocheting. Most recently, she spent much of her time watching TV. Ms. Carpenter always loved spending time with her family and that was her greatest joy.
Ms. Carpenter was preceded in death by her daughter, Kay Carpenter Goolsby; former husband, Eugene Carpenter; and sons-in-law, Russell Bowden and Jamie Saylor.
Ms. Carpenter is survived by her children, Joanie Carpenter Bowden, Mike Carpenter (Julia), and Gina Carpenter Saylor (Brian Russell); grandchildren, Sandy Higdon Tout (Matt), Eric Goolsby (Chase Mason), Lisa Lee (David), Emily Ballengee (David), Brandon Bowden (April), Courtney Bowden, Ashley Smith (Ryan), Michael Carpenter (Hella), Logan Russell, and Hershel Saylor; many great-grandchildren; sisters, Marie Douglas (Bill), Betty Vannier, Jackie Pierce (Larry), and Bobbie White (Bob); and numerous nieces and nephews.
