Cheryl Denise “GiGi” Hamrick Sutton, 54, of Macon, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, September 3rd at 3pm at Bridgeway Church, 6025 Rogers Road, Lizella, Georgia 31052, with Pastor Eddie Coatney officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
Denise, affectionately known as “GiGi,” was born on June 8, 1972, in Macon, Georgia. She devoted much of her life to raising her children and spent 27 years as a talented and dedicated hair stylist before becoming a General Manager at Integrated Vendor Group. Above all else, Denise cherished the people she loved. She found her greatest joy in being surrounded by her family, whether gathered together for a celebration, cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events, or simply making memories at home. Denise had a fun-loving, adventurous spirit and could often be found traveling, shopping, attending concerts, or decorating her home—especially when Christmas came around. She loved big, laughed brightly, spoiled her children and grandchildren whenever she could, and was never afraid to speak her mind. Her warmth, humor, and unmistakable personality made her a light in the lives of those around her. Denise left her fingerprint on everyone she met, and her legacy will live on through all those she mentored and loved as a stylist, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Denise was preceded in death by her mother, Diane Collier, her father, Johnny Hamrick, and her sister, Karen Ackerman.
Left to cherish Denise’s memory are her husband of 37 years, James Walter Sutton; children, Erika Bishop (Bradley), Taylor Sutton, and Dustin Peavy (Kelli); her sister, Pamela Jones (Mike); 13 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Though Denise’s life on earth has come to an end, the love she gave, the memories she created, and the joy she brought to those around her will remain. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
