Charles "Roger" Newsome

May 25, 1958 — August 22, 2025

Charles "Roger" Newsome, 67, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025. Funeral services will be private.

Mr. Newsome was born on May 25, 1958, in Toccoa, Georgia, to the late Mr. Luther Garland Newsome and Mrs. Bertha Kelly Newsome. He was a skilled painter by trade, dedicating many years to his craft with diligence and pride. However, Mr. Newsome's true passion lay in the fields of Dickie Farms, where he found joy and fulfillment in peach farming. He had a deep love for the land and took great pride in the work that came with nurturing each harvest. Above all, Mr. Newsome cherished his family. Whether it was a casual gathering or a meaningful milestone, if he was able to be there, he never missed the opportunity. His presence was a constant source of warmth and support, and he valued every moment spent with his loved ones. Outside of work and family, Mr. Newsome had a deep love for NASCAR and professional wrestling. He was an avid fan who never missed a race or a match. His favorite NASCAR driver was the legendary Davey Allison, and he rooted passionately for wrestling icons Sting and Ric Flair. Whether it was the roar of engines or the drama of the ring, he found excitement and connection in these lifelong pastimes.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Newsome was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Lee Kelley Newsome; granddaughter, Ava Nettles; and siblings, Violet Harbert, Peggy Kimsey, and Garland Newsome. Left to cherish Mr. Newsome's memory are his children, Gayle Nettles (Jimmy) and Luke Newsome (Krystal Newberry); grandchildren, Zach Nettles (Noel), Shane Newsome, Ethan Newsome, Brandon Newsome, and Chad Newsome; step-grandchildren, Tara Newberry and Tyler Boyette; great-grandchild, Winnie Nettles; brothers, Grover Newsome and Jerry Newsome; and many extended family members.
