Charles Lee Nettles, a cherished member of his community and a dedicated family man, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026, in Macon, Georgia. Born on May 23, 1942, in Swainsboro, Georgia, Charles lived a life marked by service, passion, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Charles's career was distinguished by his work as a salesperson for Colonial Bakery, Dixie Lily, and Little Debbie. Beyond his professional endeavors, he proudly served his country in the Army, exemplifying duty and honor.

His devotion extended deeply into his community and personal passions. Charles was an active attender of the Lighthouse Community Church, where his heart found solace and purpose. Music was a profound passion of his; he lent his voice to Southern Gospel groups including the Singing Believers, New Harvest, and One Voice, touching many with his soulful performances.

In addition to his musical talents, Charles was deeply involved in youth sports and baseball. He coached Little League Baseball District Five, was a longstanding member of the Middle Georgia Baseball Umpires Association for over thirty years, and called games at notable events such as the Southern Regional Little League in St. Petersburg, Florida, in 1982. His leadership was recognized when he served as President of the Western Little League in 1983. Moreover, Charles umpired at the Girls Softball Little League World Series in Kalamazoo, Michigan, in 1985, exemplifying his aspiration to excellence, competency, and determination.

Charles is survived by his devoted wife of fifty-nine years, Marilyn Nettles; his son, Alan Nettles, and daughter-in-law, Dana Nettles; and his daughter, Amy Thompson. His legacy lives on through his three beloved grandchildren—Dalton Nettles, Leah Thompson, and Haley Ramage (and her husband Tyler)—and five great-grandchildren: Zachary Castellow, Zoey Culverhouse, Bowen Ramage, Paige Domingue, and McKenna Ramage.

He is preceded in death by his father, Otis Nettles; mother, Sadie C. Tanner; stepfather, William "Bo" Tanner; two brothers; and one half-sister.

Charles Lee Nettles’ life was a testament to dedication, faith, and community spirit. His passing leaves a profound void, but also a rich legacy of love, service, and music that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

A visitation will be held on April 27, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Macon, Georgia. The funeral service will follow on April 28, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM at Lighthouse Community Church in Byron, Georgia. Burial will take place on April 28, 2026, at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Macon, Georgia.

Charles’s memory will be lovingly honored by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His steadfast spirit and kind heart will forever remain in the hearts of many.
