Charles Gay

Charles Lee Gay, 79 of Byron, Georgia passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2020. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Pastor Rusty Smith will officiate. The family will have a time of visitation on Saturday, December 26, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. till service time in the funeral home.
Born in Ocilla, Georgia he was the son of the late Henry Gay and Emma Burgess Gay. He was a retired Director of Information System Agency Computer Center at Robins Air Force Base for 42 years. He also served as chairman for the 1986 Combined Federal Campaign for all of Robins AFB and for all Federal Agencies in the Middle Georgia area.
Mr. Gay was a longtime member of Mikado Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon since 1972. He served as a Sunday School Teacher, Training Union, and Director of AWANA Pals. He also served as chairman of the finance committee, and building committee for several projects.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marthel Hooker Gay, Children, Doug Gay (Heather Mathis) and Angela Sheffield (Mike); grandchildren, Ally Taylor, Coleman Taylor, Amanda Davis (Weston), Aaliyah Rumney and Kyla Mathis; great grandchildren, Leighton Davis and Lautner Davis.
In Lieu of flowers the family request donations to the Mikado Baptist Church Building Fund, 6751 Houston Road Macon, Georgia 31216.
