Charles Edwin Collins, Jr., 79, of Byron, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 10, 2025. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, July 20th at 2:00 PM at The Assembly at Warner Robins, 6040 Watson Blvd, Byron, GA 31008, with Pastor Richard Azbell officiating.
Chuck was born on November 18, 1945, in Newark, New Jersey to the late Mr. Charles Edwin Collins, Sr., and Mrs. Evelyn Singer Collins. He joined the Air Force on January 4, 1967 serving as an aircraft control and warning radar specialist during the Vietnam War. He then became a flight simulator technician where he met and served with his wife Karen Leigh Sullivan. Chuck retired from the Air Force on September 30, 1987 proudly serving the country he loved for 20 years. He then attended the University of South Florida where he earned a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering. Upon graduation, in 1990, he moved the family to middle Georgia to work for the paper mill in Montezuma. He retired for the final time in 2019.
Left to cherish Chuck's memory are his wife of 47 years, Karen Collins; his four daughters, Colleen Jones-Delarge, Tirzah Collins Bautista, Shauna Kaylynn Jones, and Ashton Rose Clay; grandchildren, Chance Michael Jones, Cailin Lorraine Jones, Hailey Adriana Jones, Ian Connor Collins-Snay, Delaney Rose Clay, Aureauna Alexis Jones, and Keanan Sullivan Clay.
