Charles Baker

February 28, 1955 — April 13, 2020

Charles Hume Baker III, 65, of Macon, Georgia, died Monday, April 13, 2020. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.

Born in Alberta, Canada, he was the son of the late Charles Hume Baker II and Geertruida Hermina Zwartjes Baker. He was the owner and operator of CBakerPC, and was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

At 18 and as a Canadian citizen, Chuck "accidentally" joined the US Army after responding to a help wanted ad for a telephone repairman. His first tour after basic training was to Germany, where he met the love of his life, Petra. After 15 years of service, he became a US citizen. He retired in 1994 as a Sergeant First Class with 20 years of service. After retirement, he worked for J.M. Huber for 13 years, and later Monroe County Hospital as the IT Department until 2012. He then started CBakerPC, his own computer maintenance business.

In his spare time, Chuck enjoyed spending time with family, woodworking, home-improvement projects, traveling with Petra, and playing and working on the computer. He was always ready with a clever joke or a punny phrase. His wit and good humor were only surpassed by the love he had for his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Petra; children: Stephanie Adams (Kevin), Marcus Baker (Amelia), and Patrick Baker (Jess); grandchildren: Josh, Damien, and Jasper; and siblings: Ann Dafoe (Jim), Ina Baker, and Pam Baker.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be sent in his memory to Holy Spirit Catholic Church (4074 Chambers Road, Macon, Georgia, 31206).
