Cecil Johnson

November 14, 1938 — September 9, 2020

Cecil Aldine Johnson, 81, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 with his family by his side after a 7 year battle with cancer. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 11:00 at Midway Baptist Church. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Reverend Mike Fuller and Dr. Alan Wheeler will officiate. Immediately following the service, Cecil will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
Cecil was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Jessie Bernard Johnson and Ethel Mae Pender Johnson. He was preceded in death by his brothers; J.B. Johnson, Jr. and Raymond Johnson. He was a 1957 graduate of Lanier High School, and served 6 years in the U.S. Navy. Cecil retired after 36 years from Atlanta Gas Light company. He was a devout Christian and a dedicated lifelong member of Midway Baptist Church.
His enjoyment in life was a hard day's work while helping others, camping, and spending countless hours in his garage tinkering, working and restoring classic cars.
Left to cherish his memory and carry his legacy is his wife of 61 years, Olivia June Johnson; daughters; Donna Sutton (Billy) of Milledgeville, Mary Charles Gunnels (Charlie) of Macon, Amy Yaughn (Michael) of Byron, son; Sean Johnson (Tammy) of Lizella. 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Brother; Eugene Johnson of Lizella, sisters; Charlotte Moody of Macon and Ellen Haygood of Warner Robins along with several nieces and nephews.

In Lieu of flowers the family request donations to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in honor of his granddaughter Olivia Yaughn, JDRF.org.
