Catherine “Cathy” Sue Lemaire, 65, passed away on November 7, 2026, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Cathy was one of the most giving, trusting, and forgiving people you could ever meet, sometimes to a fault. She had the ability to see the good in everyone, always offering love and forgiveness without judgment. Her heart was sometimes bigger than the world was gentle, but she never let that change the way she treated people.
Her journey of motherhood was different with each of her children, but two of Cathy's greatest joys were being Grandma and Aunt Cathy. She took such pride in her grandchildren, celebrating their accomplishments, cheering them on at events, and sharing in their dreams. An avid Georgia Bulldogs fan, she enjoyed football and especially the family-friendly rivalries that came with it. Becoming a great-grandmother brought her another reason to celebrate, and she loved telling anyone who would listen about her grandkids and great-grandkids.
To her many nieces, nephews, and extended family, she was everyone's favorite aunt, Aunt Cathy. Blood relations were never a requirement to be considered family, and judgment was never part of the equation. She always accepted people as they were, loved them, and always seemed to have room for one more. Cathy loved being surrounded by family and friends. Whether she was right in the middle of the fun or simply sitting back and taking it all in, Cathy was happiest when she felt part of the moments and memories being made. During her final days, the love Cathy had given so freely throughout her life found its way back to her, as family near and far made sure she knew just how much she meant to them.
Cathy was preceded in death by the love of her life, Mark; her granddaughter, Chelsea; and her faithful Chihuahua, Mattie.
She is survived by her children: Joey (Shelly), Sam (Sarah), Ricky, and Jackie (Shaun); her grandchildren: AJ, Hunter, Nathan, Blake, Jaiden, Cheyenne, TJ, and Andrew; and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Jacqueline and Stephanie; her brothers, Tony and Mike (Meg); her lifelong siblings-in-love, Debbie, Tonia, Candice, Mike, and Bert; many additional siblings discovered later in life; her lifelong best friend, Debbie; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends; and her Chihuahua, Livi.
A memorial visitation will be held at FairHaven Funeral Home on Friday, November 13, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A celebration of Cathy's life will be planned for a later date.
