Carolyn Self

Mrs. Carolyn Walker Self, 82 of Macon, Georgia, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 29,2024. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday July 8, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Byron United Methodist Church; 103 W Heritage St. Byron, GA 31008. The family will greet friends for a time of visitation one hour prior to the service. Immediately following the service, Mrs. Self will be laid to rest in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Josh Bizzell will officiate the services with the assistance of Sam Lamback.
Carolyn was born on May 17, 1942, in Charleston, South Carolina to the late Mr. Jerry Walker and Mrs. Vesta Mae Saturday Walker. She was a devoted member of Byron United Methodist Church where she enjoyed cooking many meals for the youth for over 20 Years. If you ever got to experience her Chocolate Delight or Cherry Nut Jello; you were very lucky. She would always make sure to test out your food to make sure it was good enough for you to eat. Carolyn enjoyed dancing, especially line dancing at the church. Her trip to Mexico, where she was crowned "Queen" of the Daughters of the Nile, was amongst some of her finest memories. She loved her annual meetings with the class of 1960 from A. L. Miller. Carolyn had a heart of gold, a nurturing spirit and a strong mind. She touched the lives of everyone she knew, and she will truly be missed until they meet again.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James "Jimmy" McKinley Self; sons, James "Todd" Self and Charles "Randy" Randell Self; brother, Ronnie Walker; sister, Cynthia Walker; and grandson, Nicholas Self.
Left to cherish Carolyn's memories is her family, daughter, Tina (Bruce) Draughon, Vicky (Brian) Krattli, Diane Self; grandchildren, Daniel (Kristin) Jester, Christy (Kenny) Alday, Katie (Jason) Roberts, Emily (Clay) Miller, Tara (Nathan) Fisher, Jessica (Chad) Beckham, Joshua (Gabrielle) Self; 10 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers or donations, the family asks that you graciously make donations in Mrs. Carolyn's honor to one of the following of your choice; Byron United Methodist Church, St. Jude's Research Hospital, or the Shriners hospital; Scottish Rite.
