Calder Bryant

October 6, 1926 — July 16, 2016

Calder Benjamin Bryant, 88, of Macon, passed away peacefully and went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, July 16, 2016. Funeral Services to honor his life will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of FairHaven Funeral Home, 4989 Mount Pleasant Church Road with The Reverend Jimmy Corbitt officiating. Burial, with military honors will follow in Grace Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Born in Houston County, Georgia Mr. Bryant was the son of the late Grover Cleveland and Ora Beatrice Hudson Bryant. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was a member of New Elim Baptist Church and a Charter member of Porterfield Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir and was a deacon. He was also a Mason at the Rutland Lodge 298. Mr. Bryant, or the "Pecan Man" to most people, was an extremely hard worker for the entirety of his life. Early in his career he worked on the construction of the Old Macon Hospital. For the majority of his career Mr. Bryant was self-employed in residential construction and built several homes in the South Macon community. After his time in Construction Mr. Bryant still continued to work in his other business, Bryant's Pecans, where he handled the processing of more than 50 tons of pecans a year. He was an avid outdoors man and loved hunting, fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with nature, including farming. He was an excellent fisherman. One of his favorite places to fish was Lake Marion in Florida, where he would take his family out on the boat, and many memories were made. Above everything he was a sweet man with a gentle spirit who cared for his family dearly.
Mr. Bryant was preceded in death by his parents; Grover Cleveland and Ora Beatrice Hudson Bryant, Siblings; Slayton Bryant, Grover Bryant, Josephine Bryant Smith, Elsie Bryant Turner, and Irene Bryant Tidwell.
Left to cherish his memory his loving wife of 48 years, Peggy Bryant, Three Daughters, whom he adored; Brenda Bryant Bennett (Mark), Trisha Bryant Ullmann, and Kim Bryant Coots (Dan); Two Step-daughters, whom he loved as if they were his own, Cyri J. Flemming and Emily J. Rouse. Nine Grandchildren, Four Great Grandchildren and One Sister; Evelyn Bryant Bunch. Along with several nieces and nephews.
