Butch Barlow
November 28, 1947 — January 24, 2024
Wendell "Butch" Ray Barlow, 76, of Fort Valley, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, January 24, 2024, following his battle with dementia. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 29, at 2:00 PM, at FairHaven Funeral Home, with Pastor Ronnie Hollis officiating. Immediately following, Butch will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time at 1:00PM.
Butch was born on November 28, 1947, in Macon, Georgia, to the late Mr. Charles Brannon Barlow and Mrs. Mary Davis Hosford. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Ronald "Ronnie" Barlow, his sister, Judith "Judy" Barlow Peacock, and the love of his life, JoAnn Branan Barlow. Mr. Barlow professed his faith as a Christian in 1974. He made his home Milledgeville, Georgia in the 1980's, where he worked at Kendall McGaw Laboratories until they closed. He moved back to Macon and eventually to Fort Valley where he lived the last 30+ years of his life. He retired from Stalnaker Plastics where he worked as a machinist. He was a man of many talents from fabricating molds, metal working to designing and constructing decks and homes. Butch had an avid love for fast, sporty, muscle cars. He was a member of the Old Street Racers Club. He shares 3 children with the late Janice Faye Walker Barlow.
Butch is survived by his children, son, Billy Barlow (Jan) of Gray, son, Brannon Barlow (Olivia) of Chester, daughter, Angel Filley (Clint) of Eatonton and stepdaughter, Stacey Shannon of Florida. He has 12 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Additionally, the family is deeply grateful for the loving care received by Mr. Barlow given in his last few months by his amazing team of caregivers at Lynn Haven Health and Rehabilitation in Gray, Georgia and Affinis Hospice of Gray, Georgia with a special thanks to Hannah and Leslie.
