Buster Lee "Bill" Smith, 75, of Macon passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 20, 2017. Funeral Services to celebrate his life will be held Monday, April 24, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of FairHaven Funeral Home, 4989 Mount Pleasant Church Rd, Macon with Dr. Charles Michael Blizzard officiating. Burial will be immediately following in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will have a time of visitation one hour prior to the service beginning at noon.
Bill was born on January 14, 1942 in Surry County, North Carolina to the late James Burt Smith, Sr. and Opal Marshall Smith. He was employed by Roses Department Store for 43 years where he retired as a district manager. Bill enjoyed playing cards with his friends, and loved to watch sports. He especially loved his North Carolina Tar Heels Basketball. His greatest joy in life came from his family, and he loved spending time with them, any chance he got.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, as well as two siblings.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 44 years, Lavenia Smith. Five Children: Christa Shepherd (Tripp), Donna Meadows (Jimmy Lee), Todd Smith (Rhonda), Gina Hattaway, and Bobby Beck (Joni). Eleven grandchildren: Payton, Avery, Olivia, Bailey, Hunter, Justin, Devin, Josh, Eric, Bethany, and Sam. 6 great-grandchildren and 6 siblings.Bill will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
