Walter Bruce Hunnicutt,76, of Gray, passed away from complications from pneumonia in Macon, Georgia, on March 29, 2023. Bruce, born in Macon on January 30, 1947, a National Guard veteran, retired from Robins Air Force Base where he worked for 40 years as a metallurgist. He graduated from the University of Georgia and was an avid UGA football fan. Bruce loved collecting coins, and was a member of the Macon Coin Club and the Warner Robins Coin Club. His other hobbies included gardening, astronomy, and golf. He loved Civil War history, planting trees, and nature. Bruce had a wonderful, quirky sense of humor and was loved by many.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Bonnie Sawyer Hunnicutt, and daughters, Terri Lynn Hunnicutt, Stacy Michelle (Mike) Heath, Tiffany Carla Hunnicutt, and grandchildren Owen Heath and Ellery Heath, as well as his siblings Buford (Vicki) Hunnicutt, and Brenda (Bert) Craw. He is preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn Stevens Hunnicutt and Noah Douglas Hunnicutt.
The family will have a time of visitation to greet friends on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at FairHaven Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held in the chapel beginning at 2:00 p.m. Immediately following, Bruce will be laid to rest in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, with Pastor Bob Hunnicutt officiating.
