Brenda T. Melton, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 24th, 2026, at her home in Macon, Georgia. Born on Monday, November 9th, 1953, in Atlanta, Georgia, Brenda lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to her family and community.
Brenda is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Ricky Melton. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her sons, Jimmy (Jennifer) and Travis (Amy) Melton; her cherished grandchildren, Mackenzie (Sam), Tucker (Annie Kate), Kaleigh, Hayes, Sawyer, Zachary, and Ian; and her precious great-granddaughter, Sadie Ruth. Brenda is also survived by her brothers, Donald (Lori) and Ronald (Lynn) Thrower; her sister, Carol (Jim) Carr Vise; her mother-in-law, Louise Melton; and her sister-in-law, Lorraine Thrower. She was preceded in death by her father, Adam Woodrow Thrower, her mother, Bobbie Sue Thrower, her brother, Clifford Thrower, her sister, Priscilla Broom. and her father-in-law, Leroy Melton.
Brenda dedicated much of her professional life to the banking industry, retiring as a Vault Manager from C&S/Bank of America, where she worked from 1971 to 2008. She continued her career as a teller at Monroe County Bank from 2009 to 2017, earning the Bank of America Achievement Award in 2004 for her outstanding service.
A woman of deep faith, Brenda was a committed member of Pine Forest Baptist Church where she taught Awanas to the Cubbies for 17 years, and was a former Kindergarten Sunday School teacher for 10 years. Brenda was an active member of the Joyful Journey Sunday School Class and shared her love for dance as a Cherry Blossom Clogger. She served as a Boy Scouts of America committee member and Treasurer for Troop 51.
Brenda found joy in many activities, including yard work, traveling and camping across the United States, quilting, painting, baking, and, most importantly, spending time with her family.
A funeral service to celebrate Brenda's life will be held at Pine Forest Baptist Church in Macon, Georgia, on Saturday, March 28th, 2026, at 11:00 am, officiated by Pastor John Marc Cooling, Pastor Lanny Earley, and Pastor Chris Barnard. Burial will immediately follow the service at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery in Macon, Georgia. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
Flowers are accepted and donations may be made to Samaritans Purse, an organization close to Brenda's heart. Friends may sign the online registry at www.fairhavenmacon.com.
