Bobby Jack Smith, 93, of Macon, Georgia passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024. A funeral service to honor his life will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home with military honors. The family will have a time of visitation Tuesday, April 2, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Fairhaven Funeral Home. Immediately following the service, Bobby will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Pastor Chris Dotson will officiate the services.
Mr. Smith was born on March 9, 1931, in Pensacola, Florida to the late Mr. Allen George Smith and Mrs. Willie Belle McLellen. He was affectionately known to everyone as "Uncle Bobby." Mr. Smith honorably served his country in the United States Army where he served in the Korean War. He was a two-time recipient of purple hearts and received a bronze star. Uncle Bobby went on to work in the Maintenance Department of Armstrong World Industries where he later retired after 30 devoted years. Away from work, you could always find him fishing. He enjoyed crabbing down in Savannah, or just sitting on the water bank. Uncle Bobby enjoyed the simple things in life. He was caring, loving, devoted, and giving.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Martha Lucille Evans Smith; brothers, William George Smith, Glen Allen Smith, and Rae Wallace Smith.
Uncle Bobby has a host of loving family members that will miss him dearly.
