Bobby Joe Braddy, of Macon, Georgia entered into heavenly rest on Sunday, October 29, 2023. A funeral service to honor his life will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Liberty Church of Macon; 6511 Houston Rd, Macon, GA 31216. The family will have a time of visitation one hour prior to the service. Immediately following, Mr. Braddy will be laid to rest in the Liberty Church Cemetery. Reverend Jack Osburn will officiate all services.
Bob was born in Macon, Georgia on October 18, 1942, to the late Joe Braddy and Jimmie Wood Braddy. He attended Ft. Hawkins School and graduated from Lanier High School in 1961. Upon graduation, he entered the United States Navy and served on the USS Power alongside the USS Forrestal carrier group. While in the Navy, he saw much of the world and traveled up and down the US Coast to Canada. He was involved with the Cuban Missile Crisis conflict and traveled the Mediterranean Sea and many ports of call. He traveled through the Suez Canal in Egypt, and went from Portugal to Pakistan.
Once back on dry land, he met and married Judy Ann Flanders, his wife of, just shy of, 57 years. Together, they built a life they loved and had their only son, Stephen Craig Braddy. Bobby was the United States Post Master in Pooler, Georgia for 25 years where he retired. During this time, they were able to enjoy the river scene for nearly 44 years in Savannah, Georgia. They made very special memories with their family within their time there. He was a devoted and valued member of Liberty Church, where he and his wife faithfully attended. Mr. Braddy had a contagious laugh, sense of humor and affectionate smile. He loved to eat, but especially chocolate cake. He spent many mornings feeding the birds and enjoying the fresh air. He was a simple man. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his family. They were the light of his life.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Judy Flanders Braddy; son, Stephen Craig Braddy (Josie); grandchildren, Timothy and Elizabeth; brother-in-laws, Dannny Flanders (Cindy) and Pete Flanders (Crystal); neices, Brandi Martin and Christy Flanders; and his loving dogs, Braddy and Livi (Olivia).
In lieu of flowers, the family graciously asks for donations to Liberty Church and the Macon Humane Society; PO Box 7554 Macon, Georgia 31209.
