Billy Shaffer

Billy Joe Shaffer, 78, of Lizella, Georgia passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 at his residence. A memorial services will be held Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Open Bible Tabernacle Baptist Church, Sandy Pointe Road, Lizella at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Herbert Williams will officiate. The family will have a time of visitation after the service in the church.
Born in Charleston, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Josephus Shaffer and Beulah Kelly Shaffer. He was a retired Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy with 23 years of service, serving during Vietnam War. He was a member of Open Bible Tabernacle Baptist Church, where he attended the Adult Sunday School Class. Mr. Shaffer was an avid outdoorsman, loving fishing and also loved to witness to people about Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mona Lynn Shaffer.
He is survived by his wife, Lorene Frances Shaffer, Son, John Darren Shaffer, Grandchildren, John Lee Shaffer, and Diana Frances Shaffer. Brother, David Shaffer (Barbara) and Sister, Carol Coe (Ernest).
