Mrs. Thompson was born on March 3, 1943, in Thomasville, Georgia, to the late Mr. James Roy Williams and Mrs. Thelma Lee Boyd Williams. She was a dedicated and hardworking woman whose strong work ethic defined much of her life. Mrs. Thompson retired after many years of faithful service with the William Carter Company and later continued to serve her community through a decade of employment with CVS, where she was known for her reliability and warm spirit.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Mrs. Thompson loved the Lord and lived her life as a reflection of that devotion. She was a faithful member of Porterfield Baptist Church, where she found great joy in worship and fellowship.

Music was one of her greatest passions. Gifted with a love for singing, she shared her talent with others by traveling and performing with gospel groups, including the Mullis-Byrd Family and the Hollis family. Through song, she uplifted hearts and brought comfort and inspiration to many.

Above all, Mrs. Thompson cherished her family. Her love for her children and grandchildren was boundless and unwavering, and she took immense pride in each of them. Her legacy of faith, kindness, and love will live on in the lives she touched so deeply.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Thompson; son, Daniel Patrick Byrd; sister, Shirley Faye Williams; and brothers, James R. Williams, Gerold “Buddy” Williams, and Charles Williams.

Left to cherish Mrs. Thompson’s memory are her daughters, Dorothy Hamrick and Barbara Peacock (Danny); son, Stephen Byrd (Sheila); six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister, JoAnn Parker; and several nieces and nephews.
