Betty Flonell Storey Highsmith, 82, of Byron, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2023. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 26, at 1:00 PM at Crossroads Bible Church, 243 Marshall Mill Rd, Fort Valley, GA 31030, with Pastor, Chet Cooper officiating. Immediately following, she will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. The family will have a time of visitation on Tuesday, July 25 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at FairHaven Funeral Home.
Mrs. Highsmith was born on May 16, 1941, in Cherokee County, Alabama, to the late Mr. Emmett Storey and Mrs. Irene Watwood Storey. She retired from Blue Bird after 20 years of service, where she worked in manufacturing and upholstery. Mrs. Highsmith was a member of Crossroads Bible Church. A lady of many talents, some of her most special were sewing, which consisted of everything from curtains to quilts. In her free time, she liked to catch fish, go to yard sales, and collect salt and pepper shakers. Above all, she will be remembered as an amazing mother, that was always sweet and kind, that always cherished time spent with her family.
Mrs. Highsmith was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Richard Highsmith and brother, Henry Storey.
Mrs. Highsmith is survived by her children, Cindy Logan (Rick), Vicki Chancey (Lynn), Richard Highsmith (Cindy), and Gloria Luersen (Dwayne); grandchildren, Brandon Hayes (Melissa), Brook Hayes (Megan), Brittany Smith, Kristen Beard (Cody), Clayton Luersen, and Meagan Hayes; great-grandchildren, Haylie, Aaron, Kaden, Damien, Kaylee, Ashton, Kenslee, Dustin, Jayden, Jenna, Mack, Weston, Jordan, Jacob, Joey, Jaclyn and Walker; siblings, Wayne Storey (Carlene), Donald Storey (Myra), and Shirley Inman; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Storey.
