Betty Sue Doles Smith

Betty Sue Doles Smith, 76, of Macon, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, May 30, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of FairHaven Funeral Home with Pastor, Larry Partain officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
Mrs. Smith was born on September 29, 1948, in Montezuma, Georgia to the late Mr. Millard L. Doles and Mrs. Eloise Hughes Doles. She was raised in Fort Valley, where she graduated from Fort Valley High School, before moving to Macon after marrying her husband at an early age. Mrs. Smith retired from the Medical Center of Central Georgia after 30 plus years of service, where she worked as a lab and X-ray technician. She was a long time member of the Middle Georgia Gem and Mineral Society and was an amateur photographer that traveled extensively to wild places for photo opportunities. Mrs. Smith was a creative person that would try anything once. She enjoyed writing and cake decorating, making many wedding and birthday cakes over the years. Above all else, Mrs. Smith loved animals, having many pet birds and fostering numerous homeless cats.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Rene Smith.
Left to cherish Mrs. Smith's memory are her son, Matthew Smith; sister, Jean Busbee (Raymond); niece, Sherry Smith; and nephew, Jeffery Smith; many nieces and nephews; and valued caregiver, Martha Zeigler.
