Bennie Elton Powell, Sr., 88 passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Thursday, December 23, 2021. The family will have a time of visitation to greet friends on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Fellowship Church, 4967 Sandy Point Rd, Lizella, GA 31052, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the church. Pastors Russ Bozeman and Ricky Tidwell will officiate. Immediately following, Mr. Powell will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. For those unable to attend, services will be streamed live on Facebook at FairHaven Funeral Home- Macon.
Mr. Powell was born on November 21, 1933, in Kite, Georgia to the late Ell and Alice Powell. He proudly served our country in the United States Army. Mr. Powell retired from Armstrong World Industries after an impressive career that spanned well over 35 years. Throughout those years, Mr. Powell formed friendships that lasted throughout the years. Mr. Powell met the love of his life Katherine Cauley Powell, at a young age, and together they built a wonderful life together, raising four children. He was a faithful member of Fellowship Church and loved his church and his Lord. His greatest accomplishment in life was his family, he was by far his happiest when he was spending time with them, they were the light of his life and he always made sure they had whatever they needed. In his free time, he enjoyed being outside, especially gardening, and in his younger years, hunting and fishing.
Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his parents as well as one brother; Wyman Powell.
Left to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy, is his loving family. His wife of 67 years; Katherine Powell, and four children; Earline Davis (Eddie "Boots"), Judy Peavy, Patricia Brinkley (Fred), and Ben Powell, Jr. (Lindsey). Grandchildren; Jessica Gilstrap (Shannon), Summer Davis, Shannon Davis (Tiffany), Erica Getrum (Rich), Ashley Freeman (Sam), Amber Jones (Ryan), Brittany Peavy, Blane Lazaurs (Victoria), Julia King (Alex), Chris Brinkley, Cheney Daniel, Kyle Powell (Ashley), Brayleigh Powell, Abby Price, Maddie Price, and Carter Price. 13 great grandchildren and 1 on the way as well as one sister; Gail Thompson.
