It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Barry James Blackwell, aged 73, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Barry passed away peacefully at his residence in Roberta, Georgia, on Monday, June 29th, 2026. Services are private.

Barry was born on a crisp Monday morning, January 19th, 1953, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. His journey in life was marked by love, kindness, and unyielding dedication to his family and community.

Barry is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Elizabeth Blackwell. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter. He is also lovingly remembered by his sons, Ted Blackwell (Anna) and Joseph Blackwell (Clarice), and his daughters, Mellissa Blackwell-Roth (April) and Sheila Kennon (Matthew). Barry's legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Georgia Blackwell, Cody Blackwell, Murphy Floyd, and Sandra Floyd, and his precious great-grandchildren: Presley, Emily, Riley, Charlie, and Henry. Barry’s sister, Brenda Lee Spangler, also survives him. His loyal fur baby, Susie, was a constant source of joy and companionship.

Barry was preceded in death by his loving parents, Charles Edward Blackwell and Sadie Leona Blackwell, his brothers Charles Jr. and Robert Blackwell, and his sister, Carol Blackwell.

In his professional life, Barry was a dedicated Sales Associate at Volkswagen of Macon. He was known for his tireless work ethic and genuine care for his colleagues and customers. Ha also served his community in Boynton Beach, Florida, where he lived at one time, as a volunteer fireman.

Beyond his work, Barry found joy in operating his CB Radio, with the handle "Orange Crate," a name known and respected by many in the community. An enthusiast of RC car racing, he spent countless hours sharing this passion with others. Barry was also an ardent admirer of all things Disney, a love he often shared with his family, whom he treasured above all else.
