Barbara Jean Brame Smith, 81, passed away peacefully at Bolingreen Nursing Home on January 8, 2019. There will not be a viewing, funeral service, or internment. Please do not send flowers. Donations may be made in her memory to Diabetes research.
Barbara was born on October 24, 1937 in Chase City, Virginia to the late John Wesley Brame Sr and Gladys Glen Ferrell Brame. She was a dedicated secretary. She worked for a doctor doing Tuberculosis research when she first started in Richmond, Virginia. She met her husband, Edward Levone Smith, of 57 years at a wedding where he was an usher. She noticed his big feet and was intrigued. He noticed her cute figure. They married and she became an Army wife. They lived in lots of places. She had vowed to follow him wherever.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents as well as her three siblings - James Vernon Brame, Arlene Glen Brame Taylor, and John Wesley "JW" Brame Jr.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Edward Levone Smith, her daughter, Jean Kathryn Smith, her son, James Edward Smith, and her daughter in law, Cynthia Louise Bell Smith. She also leaves behind a nephew, David Brame, and 4 nieces, Wendy Kay Taylor Hennum, Donna Brame, Cindy Lee Taylor Butcher, and Mindy Ray Taylor.
