Alva Jean Shipman, 71, of Macon, Georgia passed away peacefully on Friday, February 14, 2025. A private service to honor her life will be held at a later date privately.
Jean was born on December 5, 1953, in Macon, Georgia to the late Mr. Willie Alvin Payne and Mrs. Dorothy Mozelle Minshew. Alva was a loving and nurturing mother whose warmth and care touched everyone she met. She dedicated many years as a devoted operator for Southern Belle Communications before retiring, then found joy working in the bakery at Sam's Club. Outside of work, Jean enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, whether it was spending time with her dog, tending to her garden, or working in her yard. Known for her culinary skills, she was a wonderful cook. Jean was also an avid sports fan, with a special love for watching the Bulldogs and Falcons. Her memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her sisters, Peggy Reeves Fussell and Donna Reeves Collins.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving son, Christopher Payne; sisters, Sandra Oliver (Sloan) and Nell Jenkins (Jerry); extended family; and numerous friends.
