Alma Lancaster, a cherished member of the Lizella, Georgia community, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 11th, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on Monday, August 26th, 1940, in Macon, Georgia, Alma lived a full and vibrant life filled with love, laughter, and resilience.
Alma was a dedicated driver for Groome Transportation, where her commitment and enthusiasm were well recognized by her colleagues and passengers alike. Her generous spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Alma is survived by her daughter, Mary Soles, and grandson, Dalton Soles. She also leaves behind her nephews, Tim Thompson, Nelson Davis, and Robert Davis; and her nieces, Cathy Sauls, Debbie Schell, Carolyn Logan, and Mary Meeks. Alma was preceded in death by her dear mother, Hennie Lou Peacock, as well as her sister, Francis Audrey Holley, and her brother James Newton Thompson.
Alma's life was filled with simple joys like solving crossword puzzles and listening to country music. Known for her feisty and tough spirit, she was an inspiration to many and left an indelible mark on the hearts of her family and friends.
Funeral services honoring Alma’s life will be held at Fairhaven Funeral Home in Macon, Georgia on Monday, March 16th, 2026, at 11:00 am, officiated by Tyler Douglas. Family and friends are welcome to attend a visitation at the same location on Monday, March 16th, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. She will be laid to rest following the service at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
