Allene McGarrah Barnes, 90, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024. The family invites friends to join them for a time of visitation on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Fairhaven Funeral Home from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. A private burial will be held with just the family.
Mrs. Barnes was born in Americus, Georgia on May 14, 1934, to the late James Albert McGarrah and Frances Weaver McGarrah. Mr. and Mrs. Barnes were married on June 30, 1951. She graduated from Americus High School in May of 1952.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, James Curtis McGarrah; brother, Samuel Weaver McGarrah; husband, Joseph F. Barnes; son, Joseph Franklin Barnes.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Kathy) Frances Barnes Roberson (Ronnie); son, Cecil Albert Barnes; two granddaughters, Heather Nicole Benton (Kyle) and Alee Hannah Barnes; daughter-in-law, Brenda Barnes; niece, Christy Platt; and great-granddaughter, Hadley James Benton.
In lieu of flowers, the family graciously asks that you make donations to a charity of your choice. If you do not have a charity of choice, the family recommends, the American Heart Association, St. Jude Research Hospital, and the Methodist Church Home.
