Albert Edward "Al" Pallas, Jr. passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, in Lizella, Georgia, just shy of his 101st birthday. The love of his life, his beloved wife, Judith "Judy" Johnson Pallas, was by his side. The family will be greeting friends at First Evangelical Church from 10:00 – 11:00 AM before the memorial service at 11:00 – 12:00PM on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. A Private burial will be held at Georgia Veteran’s Cemetery in Milledgeville.

Al was born on February 5, 1925, in Long Beach, California to Albert Edward Pallas, Sr. and Emma Winter Pallas. He grew up in the community of Avalon on Catalina Island, CA where he graduated from Avalon High School.

At age 18, after being signed by Chicago Cubs, Al was drafted into the U.S. Army Infantry during World War II. He specialized in Heavy Weapons, serving with distinction, walking from the south of France into Austria while tending to his artillery unit. The war left a lasting impression on him; not least because of the loss of his cousin and childhood best friend, Sonny Carlson, who was killed at the Battle of the Bulge. Al carried Sonny’s memory and his service to the country with him for the rest of his life.

After returning home from the war, Al married Margaret Emmons Pitcher (now Peggy Craig), and together they raised their four daughters in Hemet, California. Al retired from Lake Hemet Municipal Water District and was a pillar to the local sports community.

Al loved his sports. He not only played, taught, coached and umpired baseball from, Little League to the College level but also loved tennis, bowling and played golf into his 90’s. He also served as a timer for his girls’ swim meets and was known as “The Voice of The Bulldogs” for Hemet High School Football for 30 years.

In December 1982 Al married Judy, with whom he found lasting love and helped raise his fifth daughter, Shay. Their bond brought him great joy and comfort through his middle and final years. In 2005, they moved to Georgia to be near Judy’s sister and family, where church became an important part of his life. The local American Legion Post 3 was a tremendous support to Al and his family which has been greatly appreciated.

Al is survived by his devoted wife Judy; daughters, Lynna Pallas (Peter) Henderson, Christine Pallas, Laura Pallas, Kim Pallas (Terry) Ross, and Shay (Manny) Estrada; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

We want to give a special heartfelt thank you to Heartland Hospice for their gracious care and support to Al and his family.

In loving memory of AL, donations may be made to First Evangelical Church 3601 Fulton Mill Rd Macon, GA 31206 or American Legion Post 3 5530 Thomaston Rd Macon, GA 31220, in Lieu of Flowers
