Albert Lehman Matthews, 92, of Macon, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. A funeral service to honor his life will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home. The family invites friends to join them one hour prior to the service for a time of visitation. Immediately following, Albert will be laid to rest in Fairview Memorial Gardens, 164 Fairview Rd, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281. Pastor Ed Chambliss will officiate the services.
Albert was born in East Point, Georgia on September 2, 1932, to the late Mr. Albert Harrison Matthews and Mrs. Lee Emma Coleman Matthews. He was a dedicated bus driver for 39 years for MARTA in Atlanta, Georgia. Outside of work, he enjoyed the outdoors and the simplicity it brought to him when hunting or fishing. His family was most important to him. Albert would proudly represent Georgia, Georgia Tech and Mercer in support his grandchildren. He was most happy when he was spending time with them and those memories will forever be cherished by the ones who loved him most. He also looked forward to and thoroughly loved watching the GA Bulldog games with his BFF Tim Watkins. His kind spirit, devoted heart and supportive character will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, John Henry Emore, III; daughter, Sandra Wood; brother, Burnett Swofford; sisters, Valeria Cain and Emma Ruth Millians.
Left to cherish his memory is his adoring wife of 70 years, Margaret Matthews; daughter, Deborah Matthews Hale; grandchildren, Lori (Tim) Lineberry, Tony (Kim) Freeland, Tina (Brian) Earls, JJ (Julie) Reynolds, Johnny Emore, Tracey (Richie) Emore, Julie (Bernie) Chloupek; 21 great grandchildren, 19 great- great grandchildren, a best friend, Tim Watkins and a host of many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Mikado Baptist Church in Macon, Georgia in his honor.
