Alan McLure, 68, died Sunday, May 11 at a hospital in Atlanta due to an unexpected medical emergency that could not be repaired by surgery. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 20th from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at FairHaven Funeral Home on Mount Pleasant Church Road in Macon. Funeral services will immediately follow in the chapel with burial at Macon Memorial Park. Alan, son of the late Edwin Samuel McLure, Sr. and Louise Whiteside McLure, was born in Macon, GA. He enjoyed playing the saxophone in the Central High School band and worked many hours preparing materials and equipment for their performances. He graduated from the University of Georgia and while there performed with the University of Georgia band and marched in the Presidential Inaugural parade.
Alan initially worked for Norfolk-Southern Railroad and later was a supervisor for many years with Prevail Sport in Atlanta. His friends appreciated his outgoing, happy-go-lucky personality and his cousins referred to him as their fun cousin.
Alan is survived by his brother Edwin McLure Jr. (Debbie) of Palm Bay, FL and his very special friends Boyce and Christy Herndon.
