A. Johnson

December 31, 1969 — May 30, 2021

Albert Phillip Johnson, age 78, went to be with his Savior on Sunday, May 30, 2021. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, June 5, 2021, at 2:00 pm at Fairhaven Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Chambless officiating. A graveside service will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 12:30 until service time at the funeral home. The family respectfully requests the wearing of masks and social distancing to the best of everyone's ability at the service. Phillip was born in Macon, Georgia, to the late Albert and Inez Ballard Johnson on September 10, 1942. A graduate of Lanier High School, class of 1961, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Reserves and served for six years. He graduated from Mercer University in 1969 with a B.A. in Economics and went to work as a computer sales representative for Burroughs and in later years Triad and Southeastern Express. He retired after 30 years but could not sit idle, so he took a job at Byron Tire Company, retiring for the last time in 2009. Phillip was a loving and giving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He spent the last several years faithfully and tenderly caring for his dear wife of fifty-seven years, Faye, as her health declined. They were blessed with many years of enjoying grandparenthood together, and he was immensely devoted to his daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. He was a loving and absolutely fun Granddaddy, who took great pleasure in being with and playing with his grandkids, celebrating their big moments, and making them laugh hard. He had a true servant's heart, always looking for ways to help others. He could often be seen around his neighborhood taking his beloved chainsaw to the many pecan limbs that would fall in his and his neighbors' yards. He left his family with his legacy of trusting the Lord and giving Him thanks in all things, working hard at everything he did, and finding ways to serve and give to others. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Faye; his father, Albert Johnson; his mother, Inez Ballard Johnson; and his nephew, John Phillip Davis. He is survived by his daughter, Shannon Cook (Kurt) of Cincinnati, Ohio; his grandchildren, Luke Cook, Ella Cook, and Anna Cook; his sisters Carol Hodges (Bobby), Elaine Brown (Danny), and Patricia Davis; his brother in-law, Danny O'Neal (Carol), his sister in-law, Shelvia Neal (Gary), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will graciously accept flowers and will also accept donations to Pine Point Hospice 6261 Peake Rd, Macon, GA 31210 in honor of Mr. Albert Phillip Johnson.
